I am planning on doing some traveling in the future.
I'm just curious what happens if you're called for a random and you are in Europe or some other far away land?
This is for an owner operator with their own authority.
What if random/ out of country?

Im sorry but that's impossible. Unless they want to fly you a GS 550 to fetch you for the test at 15000 to 25000 dollars pronto. (Bill it to uncle sam as job related expense)
As far as they are concerned they cannot call ####e. You are on vacation.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
if so, notify them at least 2 weeks in advance, when you are leaving and your "estimated" return..??
and KEEP IN TOUCH with them just in case you are put into jail in another country, (if you even get one call to make, screw the lawyer you'll need, drug testing is way more important!!!) or running away from the farmers daughter..??? and you missed your plane home..???
other than that, i dunno......Texas_hwy_287, FlaSwampRat and gentleroger Thank this. -
When I am on vacation I don't need anything except sunshine.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
I was about 3 month out of USA in 2018. When I arrived I saw a letter in mail mailbox calling me for random. I called them and I told them I was not in USA from june to end of august. They asked me for proof. I emailed them my flight ticket and two passport pages.. Next day they called me and told me to go for random asap.
spsauerland, TallJoe, Texas_hwy_287 and 9 others Thank this. -

Pulling a big prank on everybody!
It's not like any owner-operators ever take time off. I guess it's a ridiculous idea that an owner operator would have enough money and time to be able to travel. I guess the so-called Freedom that comes with being an independent actually means you're a prisoner of the United States.
Yes I'm pranking everyone. We all know when you have your own authority your boss won't let you leave...
I guess it's a ridiculous idea that an owner operator would like to get out and see other countries and other cultures and learn more about the world and other people and other civilizations. How ridiculous!
I guess there are absolutely zero owner-operators that have relatives outside of the United States that they'd like to take time off to go see. What a ridiculous thought!
I guess every single solitary owner-operator in the entire United States remains within the United States 365 days a year. I guess every single solitary owner-operator never leaves their Hometown unless it's in a truck.
And I guess if an owner operator did go to another country it's completely insane that they could get a random while they're gone. I thought random meant random as in random at any time wherever you happen to be. What an absurd idea! What was I thinking?
I guess it is just a completely ridiculous Ludacris moronic asinine question.
Maybe a vacation for you is sitting around in your underwear drinking six pack after six pack watching reruns of WWE, but some of us have something a bit more intellectual and cultural in mind.
Smh...SoCalRed, spsauerland, LumbraX and 6 others Thank this. -
Doesn't matter whether you are inside or outside the country. If you are going to be out of service for 1 day, 1 week whatever, notify your consortium in advance of those parameters. You would be ineligible for a drug test. Or alcohol for that matter. You are sitting on the beach in Cancun sipping on a margherita. They call and you are supposed to drop everything. I don't think so. Just do blow, no weed. Stays in your system too long.
You are fair game any other time.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
