Enjoy life at a truck stop. You can't drive like that.

Funny you should ask that. I was on a run from OH to the bottoms of SC thursday with a friday del. I stoped at a pilot in OH for fuel and got a couple chicken wraps (mexican wraps) about 4 hours into the run I get this gurgling feeling. I pulled over rolled down the passenger window and was not going for distance. When I got to a safer place I pulled over and started loading up on immodium ad and pepto. (my truck is stocked for any emergency) I lost track how many times I got sick.
This is the 3rd time I have had food poisining in my life. I made my drop and picked up friday with a del of 12-27. This is my load to get me home for Christmas. I think great I will bed down till I feel better. I get a message asking me if I will swap trailers in KY to get another driver home for Christmas. I call the guy and tell him I don't know how far I can go. I made it another hour and had to stop. I call him and told him I was going to shower and go to bed and would run it the next day. He said no problem and understood. He wanted to know where to meet and I told him. He would not get home without this load and he was real nice. He knew I was deathly ill.
I got up the next day sick as a dog. I still had 9 hours to drive to meet him. I was weak as a kitten, but made the swap and was 30 minutes from home. His daughter was being baptised this morning and he thanked me for making the swap with him. Out here in trucking you will get sick. You will not have the conviences of being at home. You just have to make the best of it.

dang dude! not to sound preachy or anything but, don't eat too much T/S food! bleach.... I try to eat out of the truck and shop at wal-mart
apples, naners, sandwiches, soups, and granola bars will only get me so far and then I have to eat something else. I think if I got food poisoning I'd never eat at any of that particular chain of truck stops again.

I do eat out of the truck and stock up at wally world before I roll. Sometimes I just want to get something when I fuel to snack on. You can get food posioning anywhere. I got it from a bowl of chili back in the 80's from wendy's. Liked to killed me back then when I was younger, It was so bad it was years before I would eat chili again.

I pretty much just work threw it the best I can... The point where I draw the line is when I start to get dizzy.... noway can I drive like that...

Been a few times I have been on the side of the road getting sick.. just something you have to deal with....

Could just be the norovirus (winter sickness) it's been going around. If it was food poisoning, it usually takes 24-36 hours to begin to be sick. I've had norovirus twice, and it was really bad.

Actually, food poisoning can occur within 48 hours of eating the bad food. With some people it can happen within as little as a couple of hours or less.
