I apologize if this has been posted before but my iPhone won't let me search the site. What if you have sleep apnea, what happens? I've never been diagnosed with it but I was told I may have to take a test since I'm overweight. I do snore at night, but only if I sleep on my back. I don't have pauses in my breathing or wake up gasping for air. I sleep a good 7-8 hours every day and wake up feeling great. Also I'm 5'7" 250lbs. I lifted weights a lot in highschool. I'm 20yrs old.

If you have it it needs to be treated in order to get a medical card. I use a CPAP in my truck. My advice is to not check yes on the form they have you fill out before getting your DOT physical. Get a yearly check up from a good doc and do what he recomends. Mine had me do a sleep study. It had nothing to do with the DOT physical.

Now that I am diagnosed I get a letter from my sleep doctor saying my apnea is treated and under control and take that with me to the DOT Doc whenever I renew my card. I also have the CPAP downloads for the past 3 months proving that I use it.

Here is one of the larger threads on the subject.

A sleep study is the only way I know of. wsyrob is 100% right, never ever check a medical condition unless a medical doctor has diagnosed you for that problem. There have been a few drivers on this site that have talked about sleeping problems and having the breathing machines in the truck. Most all of them have said it helps with their rest so no matter what the outcome is it's not a career ender.

That's good to know. Who would recommend me do a sleep study. I had a physical done a year ago, everything was fine, only my bp was high. 128/81, not to bad I guess.

    I had it,

    so they say,

    but after losing some weight,

    I'm amazingly cured !!!

I know that it is a legit problem,

I just question some of the professionals that diagnose it......

Thanks. I was thinking of ways to stay in shape while driving. Maybe running laps around the truck. 120 laps/day should be good lol
