    I was looking online and might be wrong but the government says for carriers

    "Retain ELD data and backup data on separate systems"

    If your a carrier then it seems you need the data backed separately.

    Would you feel better if Garmin was removed from the list of acceptable devices? Seriously dude. At this point you are just looking for a reason to complain. You have several easy options available to back up your data but are choosing not to. That's solely on you.

    cjb logistics Thanks this.

    1. I just rechecked my previous posts a didn't find a single word that would indicate that I was complaining about something. I just asked a question, that hasn't been answered yet, by the way. But even if I wanted to complain, I thought I have a right to complain since I paid for this device.
    2. Yes I would feel better if Garmin (and companies like Garmin that are here to make quick cash) was removed from the list of approved devices. At this point their ELD product is unusable.
    3. I would feel MUCH better if government tested at least basic functionality of the ELD's before approving them;
    4. What "several" easy options to back up the data do I have if the app is crashing at start up?

    Thank you, When I do get back out I want to do it legal and safe while having everything in order. I want to be one of the ones on helping make our country great so I will do as much searching for truths as I can. We do have a great country and I do have children and grand children that watch.

    Not true. You can't hook it up to the computer and there no slot for memory card. To upload the data to so called "cloud" you need INTERNET access. As far as I know internet is not available in some parts of this country. And if your ELD goes down in the middle of Wyoming lets say, whats next? The only way you can retrieve the data is from the APP itself, but what if it crashes at start up like in my case?

    Call garmin and find out. I don't know exactly how they are set up. Each one is different, for example my jj keller uploads at each change of duty status. But by law they have to have a back up/up load option as stated above. These are things you should have researched before deciding which elog system to buy.

    I am in the looking stage right now, it is a new system that they have thrown at the industry and hopefully by watching and trial and error I will know exactly what I will be looking for, have to order the truck and that is a quest in itself, but if I do not look at all what is going on I will feel kind of silly.

    It isnt a new system. The law was passed over two freaking years ago. People had plenty of time to form a game plan, implement and test that game plan but instead chose to wait till the very last minute(in many cases literally the last minute). I have no pity for those struggling and running into problems since the 18th.

    Call Garmin and let us know what they say. Seems like a simple thing to fix. If must have some form of backup data. If not you can just get another system.
