My state confirmed my new medical card submission to me over the phone then later sent me a letter later saying I had 10 days to submit proof of my few week/months old "new" medical card or my CDL would be downgraded. When you get proof the state has your new medical card on file keep that written proof.

Well the folks in the office somewhere in Tennessee seem stuck on stupid right now. Apparently some office worker doesn't know how to read their own document. Right next to option 2 it says "therefore I am not required to submit a medical examiner's certificate" in bold and underlined. Yet I've been uploading my scan of my completed affidavit to them through their online platform, and they keep responding about an hour afterwards telling me my submission has been rejected because I didn't upload a medical examiner's certificate. o_O I've tried a few times now. I guess I'll probably have to call them.

I finally got someone on the phone after about twenty attempts. They told me that I can't select option 2 unless I'm a government worker or farmer. So, I asked what exactly happens if I don't submit any forms and the medical cert's expiration date comes and goes. The answer they said is that the cdl will be placed on cancelled status and I will have up to five more years to submit a new medical examiner's certificate in order to reinstate the cdl. They reassured me that I would not have to re-take the skills and road test unless more than five years passes. I asked if they have that info in writing anywhere, and they just said that "no, but that's how we've been doing things"
Can't say my worried have been completely put to rest, as I could see some employee at the office six months from now telling me I have to re-test for my cdl again or go back and get my learner's permit or something.

    tscottme Thanks this.
