"Stretch" your truck and trailer everytime you set the brakes.

VISUALLY check your kingpin jaws before you move the truck, EVERYTIME.

Do you mean pull out the red brake valve and pull against the trailer brakes everytime you set the brakes?

I don't do that. I only check the kingpin jaws when I first hook up to a trailer. I do check my handle for the locking jaws before I move the truck almost every time.

Your post is not germane to the OP of this thread.

So far I have listed ten things about trucking that I learned after my first year of trucking. I listed nine things in the OP. Then I listed #10 in a subsequent post.

So did you people learn ALL ten of these things in your first year of trucking?

I suppose #2 in the OP is debatable. I don't think the other 9 things I listed are debatable though. If you did not learn any of these ten things in your first year, which of these ten things did you not learn in your first year?

I have no idea what you’re talking about my first year driving , my first day I had no trainer. I had no books , they said get in the truck and drive it . three guys sitting around holding a cup of coffee watching me . What number would that be on your list

When I first started driving trucks, there were no trainers , there were no books. Everything was all self-taught and experience. You get better at it as you keep practicing. That’s all I did

At least two things; I don’t know how to drive but I’ll get it there anyway. And I used to think some folks could get stuck anywhere but it turns out that tire condition / type and lockers make a lot of difference.

Before I was a licensed cdl driver I learned how to float a 9 speed with a hand throttle that took two hands to pull it out. You also had to hold in gear as it would randomly kick out of gear and the truck pulled to the right. Can that count?
