So what is a good TV to buy for in the truck? I dont need a DVD player combo just a TV. I am going to need a 12v one unless I get an inverter put in here.

Use your laptop.

I use it now for movies and tv shows but being out here every other weekend I would like to bring my Xbox with for the 34 hour resets and I dont have a HDMI port on here.

I know I want a LCD, I just dont know which brands are reputable for a 12v TV. I just want it to be able to bring my xbox with me for my 34 hour resets. I dont have an unlimited data plan with my phone so I download everything while I am at home for TV shows and movies and I also have movies on DVD with me which I watch on my laptop. I just want to know what brand of 12v TV is best and will actually last me and is worth the price since the 12v TVs are not all that cheap.

If you give me some time, I just ordered the Naxa 19" 12 volt model without the dvd player. I have to wait for it to arrive, but then ill review it. I only paid $130 for it on buy.com. I could only find 3 reviews for it but they were all positive. I figured for 130 bucks shipped it was worth a shot.
What I intend to do is this. Like you I game, I use a PS3 because I also want the versatility of watching Blu Rays.
When my wife and I camped in our RV we had DISH network. I had 2 DVRs. I would record tons of different programs at the house, then when we went on the road I would take one of the DVRs with us, this gave us plenty of TV to watch without having to go through the pain of setting up the dish. I could skip commercials etc, and had it hooked up to the terrestrial antenna if we wanted to catch the news or whatever to stay connected locally.
Since I am a regional driver gone max of 3 days this situation works good for me since I can return home and swap the DVR for the other one at the house and be road ready again -
That sounds like a deal! That's what I am looking at something that's in that price range and size

Why does it need to be 12V. A 300 Watt inverter will power a laptop and the TV at the same time. If you want to use an X box don't you need an inverter? Save some money and get a 120V TV. I have a Visio 19 inch in my truck. I hook it up to my laptop and watch TV shows or movie files recorded at home. It will also pull in whatever HD local channels are available with the truck antenna. Sometimes that's 30+ channels.

That's what I was thinking also I'm just not sure about how much power the Xbox needs. I only have a little 120 Watt inverter just for my laptop.

I chose the 12 volt for versatility. I was using a cheap Wal Mart Emerson TV in my truck on an inverter and it worked fine but it wasn't my TV so I bought the 12 volt because I have a choice to run it off 12 volt or AC power.
Theres nothing wrong with using an inverter but sometimes I think it will be nice to not have to hassle with an inverter if I don't want to
