If you want to spend more money on "credentials", better to get your passport than a TWIC card. Worth more to an employer that you can go to Canada vs a port. Cheaper too.

A little off subject but can show you what the government pays for loads. We had a TD-25 Bulldozer we had to move from southern MD to SLC UT. The driver was complaining about the pay (he was an O/O) and I asked that $10,000 wasn't enough. He flipped out and said he's only getting paid for $2000. I broke all the rules and got him a copy of the contract and gave it to him. (You know the names, places, and any other information has been changed) It was his company that was ripping him off. After he left we all sat down and had a meeting and decided that I could borrow a single dropped deck 60 ton trailer from another base and then rent a Ryder tractor and make the moves alot cheaper. So I did that for a year or two. It was funny because all the loads were overloaded and the inspector would flash me the light to come in. After the first trip I got the base decal and placed it right over the big "R" on the tractor and it covered it perfect. I was never ask to come in after that. We had alot of specialized equipment to move to UT. -
isn't TWIC being used at chemical plants now too? I'd think it would be handy to a tanker hauler if so.
I loose allot of loads by not having the TWIC but I also live on the Gulf coast where there is allot of port work
