Wyoming has had prepass for years.I retired almost 3 years ago, they had it for a couple of years before that.Allways got the bypass green light unless I was oversize or delivering in state. Ca.,N.M. also has it also.

NorPass is used in OR, WA, ID, MT. ( I think MT. ).
The northwest wants their own version of prepass.
You don't get another device, you just have to pay a little extra money, and NorPass is turned on through your Prepass.

Back in the day, before the Interstate went through in Wyoming, the Eastern POE was on US 30 in Cheyenne by the old Little America TS. Old building you had to go in,show your registrations (way before IFTA,you had a separate tax plate on the front of your truck for Wyoming) they gave you a little hand written card with the date on it,you taped it to the inside of your windshield,so it could be seen by other enforcement.Little platform scale,if they suspected you were heavy, they weighed you.
The POE on the other side of the state at Evanston, was an old wooden building, built right on the state line they shared the building with Utah. Biggest dam colony of prairie dogs ever seen behind the scales.Always stopped and watched for a while.
The old POE on 30 at Kemmerer was a little shack in town, this was before that built the 30 bypass around. You had to go through the town square, was a very lively place back then in the oil boom.Full of bars and whorehouses, and drunken roustabouts in the evenings.Nah,I never stopped, lol.

One of my favorite things to do when going through Wyoming is count Pronghorn Antelope. A few years ago in late spring I was eastbound on I-80 just after crossing into Wyoming in the evening. Up ahead I spotted two Pronghorns playing with their fawn, chasing it this way and that.

Then I realized the "fawn" was a coyote, with that mischievous grin, trying to get past the parents to the fawn hidden in the grass. Just past the scene of the drama was a colony of prairie dogs, all standing up and focused on the battle.

I'm pretty sure they were rooting for the antelope.

My highest estimated count of pronghorn was 400, in the spring. I estimate by trying to quickly count by fives as I go by the herds. The biggest bucks with the biggest harems are near Laramie.
