Thank they actually came from the old White line. Pop the hood and look at the front of the cab. Same cab as a road commode with a hood stuck on it. Autocars were the heavy duty division. Seems like I remember the gauges in some said White AutoCar but I may have confused that with the White Western Stars.
All in all a pretty good platform with an N14 and a 10 spd as long as no one ordered it with bad opitions.
I worked for companies that had a lot of them and I owned a couple. They gave good service overall.
The outfit that bought them used pulled the pan. If the liners looked good replaced rods and mains. Ran the overhead and then the road. Cheep insurance on a truck you don't know much about.
If the gauges are doing stupid stuff run away from that bag of snakes.

Ive located a 93 mid roof with a 60 series Detroit (300k since overhaul from cert Detroit shop), eaton 10 speed, well maintained by local fuel hauler. As to be expected with a 24 year old truck, a few things are not working (speedo and tach), needs new driver seat. Didn't notice any serious rust issues. Non digital dash. Ive heard horror stories about the newer Volvos electronics and wiring. Is this age truck equally as complicated?

No. Start with checking your fuses and checking -cleaning their contacts. Then check all the grounds.
SoDel Thanks this. -
Explain what a road commode is, please.

An N14 will break a crank before it will quit pulling. There is no back down to it.
Intothesunset and KB3MMX Thank this. -
