My buddy asked me, but I am not sure. Anyone knows those AZ routes around Grand Canyon? Thanks!

I40 to Flagstaff, US89 to Page AZ and east into Kanab. That's the easiest route. Last time I went through there (a few months ago) 89 was closed between Page and the junction of 89A so I had to run 89A instead which is longer and has some nasty curves but is a viable alternate. By the way, my atlas didn't show 89A as a truck route but Highway Patrol said it was legal but not recommended unless necessary (i.e. if 89 is closed through Page). Hope that helps.

They finished the detour that heads into page so you don't have to go almost 100 miles out of route. It's not a bad job either. I can't remember the number,191 I think, but it's well marked. 89A is gorgeous, but don't go that way unless you have a light trailee,,,,,well I guess it doesn't matter as you'll get stuck behind someone that does lol

I think it was 10 miles difference between 89 and 89a. the detour is about 3 miles difference.

89a isn't a bad ride. just have to climb that mountain with a couple of sharp curves. wish that straight stretch of road was wider though.

as for the detour. it's not well marked heading north. just look for the gas station to turn right. can't remember if the signs say page or 89t.

that detour is 89t and turns into 20 at the other end.
