Just started using the CB- what do drivers find helpful to hear over the CB (other than the obvious bear reports)?

Honestly, and not being a smart@## here, I find it helpful to hear nothing unless I ask for it. Aside from the bear reports or accident reports, I don't wanna hear guys talking about their big radio, or their triple digit truck, or the girls that they've been with. At least not on channel 19...you wanna have a long-winded private conversation, go to another channel. Otherwise, leave 19 open for important info....
    Okay, I feel better now.....:biggrin_25517:

Weather conditions and accidents that you might have seen and can report to others.

Road issues of any kind really.

Rapid weather changes, for sure, but only if it's objective info. It sure gets old, hearing for 500 miles, "it's really bad driver, ya better just park now!"

Both of those things just make me want to find the so and so and inflict some sense into his or her brain... When my GF say that I automatically reply Shut up stupid... Humm? not so smart then... :biggrin_25511:

Some drivers will ask for local information . Traffic conditions and bear reports are only useful within 15 minutes . If you saw a bear or traffic backup an hour ago , it'll be another hour before a driver going the other way gets to that point . A lot changes in 2 hours unless it is a major wreck . Warning trucks behind you of debris in the road or a bear or broke down truck on the shoulder is also useful information as well as a vehicle in the middle lane driving under the speed limit .

Accidents, bear on the shoulder, something lying in the road.
Which lane to be in and a milemarker.
If I'm going to chat, I'll go to another channel, I like 34, it doesn't bleed over to 19. The drivers that go to 18 or 20 to talk their juicy gossip in private don't know we all tuned in to listen too.

    GAPrincess Thanks this.

Well if the BTC driver would have had his on he would have known that one of his timbers was sticking out about 3 foot. I flashed my lights at him for a couple miles when he passed me. You would think he would have turned his radio on. Well; I guess waiting till you hit a car is a better way to find out...:biggrin_2554:
