What is it about I-84 in CT?

    Two accidents in two days?

BTW I hope this is a condenced, web-only version of the story because that is some real lame reporting BTW. My local paper can get names, injuries, where the involved are from, and what hospital they went to. And sometimes eyewitness accounts.

I had just come up 8 when the signs said 84 was in a bad way, so I took local roads out of Waterbury that paralelled 84 for about 3 miles. Still got stuck in the last 2 miles, and made me 1/2 hour late for my pickup.

Going the other way I detoured all the way up to 6. It's not really a good road for trucks, but I kept moving. Sure enough when I got back down to Waterbury (on 8) it was STILL backed up 2 hours later!

    Sheesh!

Oh and on my way back to PA,,, I passed this:

That's I287??? Holy crap! That won't be an easy fix. I can't even imagine rush hour.

When I was bouncing out from the Maybrook TA (my refuge after dropping gennies in Mass) Sunday morning, there was a lot of flooding already and all I could think of was I88 a couple years ago swallowing those trucks. Luckily, all I encountered was a big tree across I84W with a couple troopers scratching their heads.

I got stuck in Fonda, NY for three days. Had to deliver in Albany, the Thruway was closed because of a bridge in similar shape to this, not that it mattered, the receiver wasn't open until today anyway.
