I like the shaffers spray grease in aerosol can, but it is pricey.

I mostly buy the cheapest tube grease I can find. One tube will do two greasings.

They have been around for some time now, haven’t used them for a while either, I find a grease gun works better for me

Then you have a greasy putty knife to deal with. Easier to toss a greasy stick. Although I always just took both ends off of a tube of grease. Then tapped it on the lower half of the fifth wheel til it was empty and toss the tube.

You can scrape 95% of it off onto the edge of the 5th wheel, then for the rest there's this new invention called a paper towel. :D

It's easier to wear flipflops too. :p

Theres an idea. But do you mean an entire tube onto the 5th wheel at one time? Or that's just how you get the last little bit out. Cuz I'm just thinking about little touch-ups on each trailer drop, not a whole fresh dose after cleaning.

We could talk all our lives. There is no way to do it. Use a stick, a putty knife, a spray can, a grease gun, store it in a bunker, store it in plastic within plastic within plastic, wear gloves while greasing or go commando, you're going to get grease on something.

The most fun thing in the world is cleaning up your tool box after the vibration rubs through the bag and you notice it two weeks later. Things you pull out of that tool box years later are still getting grease on your new shirt.

I do it anyway, plastic bag in a plastic bag in the tool box for on-road greasing, putty knife and grease gun at home which I try to keep clean and organized.

Doesn't matter. 5th wheel grease creeps. It will find you......especially if you have on a new shirt.

True, but I'm trying to get a handle on how much and how often. Lets face facts: they're not all the same. I've been using spray cans and/or putty knives and doing pretty well by my clothes. I'd be interested in switching to a gun if I could get similar results, but 3xl tee shirts are not an easy thing to find, especially when half the ones you do find aren't anywhere close to actual 3xl. That's one of the other reasons why I wear safety vests as often as I do: because it's so much easier to replace a safety vest than a shirt.

Nothing in the world as messy as a 5th. wheel. Especially, when it is wet with rainwater in the grooves
