I was looking at exiting i15 to i70 east then get on us89 all the way down to flagstaff But with the weather I don't know if that route is general safe or will it be well plowed as I have never rode it before I won't leave out until Tuesday
60 miles longer to go thru Vegas depending on where you are going in Phoenix ... But in a big truck, will definitely be the faster, safer, easier route. 89 is a fine road ... Monday/Tuesday may get a little winter weathery whatever way you decide to go.
I typically do the Same but i take UT20 instead of 70 to get to us89. If winter weather is getting bad just go through vegas and hit 93.
It only like 30 mile longer to go to Las Vegas and down 93 pass Hover Dam and 93 all the way to Phoenix. Last time I was on 89 it long road with no place to park for food or bathrooms. It can be a fun drive in the summer but nothing fun in the winter in my opinion. Nothing is out their so. The scenery was cool to see but driving kinda can be slow if I remember. I just remember how their was nothing out their. You better have full tanks of fuel going down US 89
