I guess I should expand the position I'm in. I'm young (25), I have no girlfriend or kids and very few friends I hang out with. I'm a bit of a loner, and honestly I prefer it that way. I enjoy being alone, I've had years of practice I guess, lol!
I love driving around to places unknown, no better feeling then being someplace you only read about. I don't get to take too many long distances trips and one of my life goals in to see as much of this country as I can. I know trucking isn't a paid sightseeing tour. But just to even go 100 miles from my hometown would be such a thrill. Plus I've always wanted to be a trucker...but I became a aircraft mechanic instead. Go fig.
I think trucking could be for me, I fit all the aspects you need to have in order to make it, and have nothing to hold me back to change my mind. Right?

Well Hootie sounds like trucking will be a good career for you. Being you have no girl at home or kids/family, that really is the biggest hurdle. With no ties to home that will allow you to not have that "gotta get home" feeling! Your dispatcher will love you for this. Also staying out for longer periods of time will allow you to make a lot more money. Going home can mess up three weeks of pay.
Personally I would take the leap if I were you. Sounds as if you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Give her a shot!

With your description of your home life, if I were in your shoes i'd be in the next training class i could, hell i'd stay out 8=10 weeks and take my timeoff when i got to a city i wanted to spend 3-4 days in. If you did it that way you don't screw up 3 weeks pay trying to get home. I'd rent a car and hit the town, Hell you could have a bank account that's over flowing after several years if your tight with your money.

Everett, if your out of hours you don't move the truck period. Let the cop tow you, it's probably only a threat anyways. But FMCSA clearly says not to move or suffer the consequences. I mean if he's gonna force you to violate your logs once you move he'll sure as hell write you the ticket and if you're an out of state driver you could also be arrested

I did have a tow company come to me in a parking lot and threaten to tow me but he never did, i called my company and they told me to call state trooper, I did and he advised me if i moved my truck and something happened whether it was my fault or not i would be found at fault for driving when i legally couldn't. I stayed put and the tow driver never did nothing. and it was a posted lot although you could only see sign when sun come up.

I thought that I too would have liked looking at new places, but I still kind of like going where I have been before. I visit certain places in CO where they know me by name and I "live" in Indiana. I still enjoy driving around by myself. It gives me plenty of time to think about things going on in my life. Most of the time I have at least 1 passenger which does wear on my nerves a little or 1 other truck following me which makes me think that I have to baby sit them because they end up doing everything that I do. Sorry for getting off topic a little, as others said you can make it what you want.
