DAT, Pilot, Loves, and TA apps. It is not all in one but they will answer those questions. The rand mcnally gps will give you rest stop parking space numbers. Now they won't tell you how many open spaces but time of day and region your in should give you a good idea what it'll look like. Some of the locatioms in the TA app shows how many open spaces. I wouldn't count on its accuracy though.

Overdrive's truckers tools already does all that except shower wait times. Even gives Walmart locations as well.

This is kind of along the lines of what I was talking about earlier ... many of the potential app prospects available are going to be up to the major truck stop players to implement as it is their databases you'll need to tie into, and furthermore, they have $200k year plus app development budgets ... kind of hard to compete with that as a small developer. The Pilots and the Loves have the motivation to spend massive dollars on useful, and sometimes goofy apps because they will design them to drive in more traffic to their brick and mortar operations. An independent, small developer does not have that luxury and motivation and information available to them, and rest assured they are not going to make anything available to outsiders they can not use to their own benefit to boost profits.

Here is an app does just that. Crashes from time to time but I use this thing daily. Just doesn't tell you wait times for showers, but has plenty of great info.

I don't think we need more apps. I don't think we need more technology to think for us. I think we need to use what we have and use our ####### brains. There is plenty of technology out there already to help us we don't need more of it maybe we just need to use what technology we already have to find the apps that already exist that do the job just fine. But what do I know. I'm just a high school drop out that decided to become a steering wheel holder in hopes of someday earning the title of truck driver.

    Thank you..all of you.

Okay, how about an app showing no access to a rest area because a driver parked in travel lane or NO exit from rest area because of illegally parked tractor trailer..

We can go around and round in circles.. The OP asked for suggestions to make our lives easier..

I would much rather know if a truck stop is full, a rest area is full or there are 75 drivers waiting on 3 showers before I exit and find myself navigating a full parking area.

Heck, better yet..do like airports do..put a sign on the highway showing available parking.

    easy fix..difficult implementation.

jaguar, when have you known truckers to have a consensus on ANYTHING? #1, on busy interstates, things change by the minute, #2, you would have to rely on live instant updates from truckers in regards to rest area status, and last I checked, texting or interacting with "live apps" to post "what you think you know, and as you perceive it to be" was a ticket to prison and a guaranteed letdown for future recipients of your "input". Don't EVER rely on trucker live input for an app or you will be surely disappointed more often then not. It's a simple and basic fact. Don't believe me? Turn on the CB and listen for an hour and try and verify their info.

I'd like an app that would allow me to kill the engine (as in turn it into a hunk of scrap iron) of all the idiot drivers I have to share the road with daily.
