That's why I like my Pete it looks and feels like a truck. I feel like I'm driving a truck and helps me to respect that. I think a lot of the newer trucks make a driver so comfortable they start driving like they are cruising down the boulevard in there car. I'm all for comfort but at the same time a truck should be a truck not an over-sized 4 wheeler.
What is the attraction with peterbilts

I think there is no so much attraction with Pete but rather with 379.
Nobody favour 387, 386, 587, 579 or even 389. Because deep in there all know quality is not there anymore.
Yeah they look cool for shows, and even for hauling overs they look more appropriate. Buy they sure not the best for job anymore.
But I am sure I will not choose my workhorse based on its look, as I wouldn't do it for wife either.
PS. Reading some of the reasons in favour of 379, I can tell some people got on the job too early in their life and never had a chance to grow up.sdaniel Thanks this. -
I like my 379 but I'd rather be in a 900L. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the clutch pedal in a Pete tho. Stupid design in my opinion. Sure I'm getting used to it but I still don't like it.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
same here, I also Like the interiors of KW's more than Pete. I'm in a t660 now, its nice but i miss my hood. Its nice driving that long wheelbase truck, rides much smoother

I have driven just about every make of truck. And I have been the most comfortable behind the wheel of a Pete. I'm a big man. Love the leg room, the stick is away from me. Not like in a kw where I'm hitting myself while I shift. Large car is the only way to go.

But then go a step further and figure out the difference in price of them when they were both new. Now subtract that difference from the resale value of the used pete. Now we are playing fair! NOW how much fuel did the freight liner save you during the time you drove them both?

Parts might be "made" but Manufactured is putting them together ..... but I knew what he mean't .... LOL

Why drive a 2 Stack Pete when you can drive a 1 Stack Mack with a Shack on back?
Maybe Peterbilt came to fame with the movie "Duel" now that old Pete will turn some heads.
Like so many said it depends on the truck itself. Macks and Western Stars are the TuFF Trucks everything else should stay on the road. -
There are more Pete and kW dump trucks running around me then there are smacks or western star
