From my experience they're better trucks. I know the Pete I used to drive pulled a hell of a lot better than this stinking Freightshaker I'm in now. Truck can't pull for ****!

That is all on how it is spec'd, not the brand name of the truck. While I really like my Columbia, since I spec'd it out to suit what I wanted and needed, I did like the dash layout of several KW T600's I drove some time ago. I just hated the narrow cabs. The only complaint i have about my Columbia is the arm rests on the seats. But then, I hate arm rests and never use them and never have in over 3 decades in any truck. They just get in the way. Tried to use them a few times early on but never did like them. Only found any use for them was when I was in the passenger seat. But since i haven't ridden in the passenger side of a cab this century, it is really a moot point.

If you don"t get it, You never will.
poppapump1332, DrtyDiesel, rocknroll81 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Unless you like driving with only your head visible, Pete's are not for you.....I think they take the seat out as it saves weight. I started driving in 1973 in a '69 Pete, but was not aware of the culture back then. Sadly I missed out, as I could have been somebody....

i don't think the newer automotive paints are as good as they were back in the 80's and 90's due to EPA stuff. It's more environmentally friendly but not as durable.

I like the Columbias better than anything else recent from Freightliner. Steering is very precise and gives great feedback and I like how they do the Fuller transmissions in them...Again very precise and sturdy feeling. Feels like driving a sports car compared to a Cascadia.

I've never driven a true hood truck (probably never will either
), but I always do a double take when I see a cool Pete at the truck stop or out on the road. They're neat to look at, sort of like if an M3 or Supra or 911 Turbo goes by (if you're a car guy). The styling is a little more outrageous and I know the engineering that went into it was surperior to most other stuff on the road. Plus they usually get spec'ed with the higher performance engines and transmissions with ups the cool factor too.

Exactly, 1000% my experience also.
I have had one '95 T600, one '98 T800, one '07 T660, one '00 Sterling and two T2000's and an '86 359. The T2000s and the Sterling rattled and shook like a freight train was going by. Awful. -
Guess you also like how when you use the wipers it goes on the mirrors or when you put up the window on a windy day it gets stuck on the weatherstripping or how you cant lock the side box lol pete is a way better built truck no comparison btw i could go on.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
