Even the dry van rates in the NE are good right now. Yeah there is some slimy brokers like online freight trying to push off some rediculously low rates but as of right now they seem to be about on par with flatbed rates. Ive been out of the loop and just got back in this year as far as dealing with these people but you have to know who to call first and who to call in a last resort situation which are avoidable to begin with if properly planned. I have been dealing with the same few customers for awhile through Landstar and a couple of others. They know me now and like me and my service, helps the rate some. Nice being able to pull the plug for a few days at a time without being committed to them.

Knowledge, service and relationships are the three keys to getting good rates. But the base is service. You can know the markets inside and out. The customer can be your frat brother. But if you don't perform and provide over the top service that doesn't matter.

Rates are soft compare to last month by rebounding. But put that in prospective compared to last year and no one should be complaining. Well, unless you are running a bunch of contract freight. Those rates are depressing when you look at spot market.

According to this rep at Nolan Trans it ain't. They still want this load done for $750 to NJ from Richmond VA market. This is why I had to run empty first the tra**sh behind the scene said the Norfolk VA market was dead and you are not going to find any better load than a $1000 to Newark NJ over 400 miles run. I deadheaded empty to reposition near Raleigh NC. The tra**sh behind the scene has been telling the same US market has crashed and the rates only cover for fuel only and we have been running the like this all the time.
I had a post here with explanation, the tra**sh must have threatened the Admin here who deleted it for what reason I have no idea.

I have no idea what you are talking about, but, if you continue to post in this manner, then we are going to have a problem. We don't buckle to threats from anyone. As you can see by the bad company forum.

I just get my authority and looking for a decent load broker. Any recommend? Which load-board are you using?

    Thanks
