Even though I worked for an O/O, MCT seemed to send me all over. The miles were pretty good for a while, and I did get to go to 43 states with those people. Their school is very good and extremely thorough...but you would have to go to SD to attend it.

    My current employer Eastern Freight Ways is the best company I have worked for so far. I have been employed here since June of 2001;
I get paid for each drop,
    each hook,
    every dock I bump,
    detention pay (after 2 hours),
unloading pay (when needed which is very rare),
Layover pay ($88.00 AFTER 2 days without a load),
congestion pay for Boston, Chicago, and 5 boroughs of NYC,
    breakdown pay,
    6 paid holidays,
    5 paid personal days,
    3 weeks paid vacation,
PC Miler shortest 53' paid routing at .44 cpm (solo) .48 cpm (team split),
    .01 cpm monthly safety/compliance bonus,
dedicated route from Pa to Miami Florida and back twice a week (about 4900 paid miles per week).
    2 days off per week.
assigned 2006 double bunk Volvo with automatic trans (Max speed 70 mph)
United Health care family coverage with Rx card $40.00
Ez-pass installed on trucks for tolls.
Efs fuel card for fueling at Pilots (when not within northeast NEMF terminal fueling zone)

Eastern is a northeast, regional, non union truckload subsidiary of NEMF based out of North Brunswick NJ. They have a mix of older Freightliners and Volvo's with close to a million miles on some of the trucks and newer 2006 model Volvo's with 10 speed automatic transmissions.

It is a small carrier with only 1 terminal. They have treated me very well over the years. So well in fact I recruited my wife and personally trained her last year. I spent 6+ years driving solo for Eastern and now drive team for them.

    Combined earnings last year?

A little over $126,000.00 (for a first year team in an economic recession).

:biggrin_25525:The best I worked for, as an O/O, was Monfort of Colorado. They have been bought out and not aroud anymore but the old timers on here know exactly who I am talking about. :biggrin_25519:Those were the good ol days:biggrin_25514:

Pleasant trucking in Connellsville, Pa. Smaller company, only one terminal, Very well maintained trucks, ran M-F, usually home early fridays, Ran NE region only, and great starting out pay.

Pappy, recognize the colors on my truck? We inherited the old Monfort color scheme. My current company, Jim Bender out of Omaha, NE is the best I have done so far. Get to be home every weekend (well, Sunday and Monday) and still get 2500-3000 miles a week. Running Omaha to the northeast and back each week.
I did make some really good money at Prime, though, and enjoyed the company... just was really hard to get home. Maybe after all the kids leave...
