I think the top pic is BS. Shouldnt the light bar be with red on the drivers side? Also doesnt have ANY other markings than that light bar that doesnt fit properly?

Most of the cars confiscated are sold at auction...The ones they keep are used for different reasons not necessarily used to chase down speeders on the Interstate...

They dress them up and most are used to go to local schools to talk to kids on the dangers of drugs and other topics...

The Luna Co. Sheriff's Dept. in Deming, NM replaces their fleet of Chevy Tahoe's every few years using seized drug funds. A lot of cash moves through there.

Lot of bodies in the desert too. :biggrin_2556:

Which is what the war on drugs is: a "for profit" business.

Not completely Harvey. It's one way to try and put the hurts to them, by hitting them in their wallets. Prior to the asset seizure/forfeiture laws, just arresting the mules, seizing the drugs had little affect on them. However when they can now seize cash, vehicles, property used for the furtherance of drug activity it starts to affect their bottom line.

Most of the fancy cars are purchased with these funds, and the cars are used in various education programs, like DARE. It used to be, kids really got a kick out of seeing these expensive cars all tricked out as cop cars. I don't know if that's still the case.

Finally would you rather you're local law enforcement spend your tax-dollars on their fleet or that of the worthless, POS drug dealers, that have no problem with ruining the children, your children, grandchildren, getting them hooked on their dope.

Don't get me wrong, I have a good understanding of these things. If our Federal Government, politicians allowed us to really fight drugs, there would be no problem. Local LEO agencies try to do what they can, with the meager budgets they get. So when they get the asset forfeitures, it generally is a blessing to them. Still I've seen at the local level, where politicians, like the County/District Attorney try to hoard these funds, using them to buy lavish furniture for their office.

Finally wouldn't you rather your local LEOs be equipped with about the best they can afford? OR would you rather they drive worn out cars, be under-armed, when they respond to your, your family, or friend's call for help? Think about it....:biggrin_25525:

Oh, I happen to really like the Camero!!
