I figured a trucker would know better than anyone for this question. I am looking for a refrigerator that will stay cold that I can put in the trunk of my sedan. Sometimes the car will be off for 12 hours. I figured truckers probably run across this situation but figured they have more batteries so the portable refrigerator doesn't affect the overall battery consumption as significantly as it does a car.

Thanks for your answers in advance.

When I ran OTR, I used walmarts 12volt electric cooler. Similar in design to STexan's link above. However, I went through 5 in 19 months. 4 times I lost all the food inside. I then bought a mini dorm fridge, 110volt. In your case you would need a power inverter to change the 12volt power to 110. Though theres an added expense, the plus side is you can take the mini fridge into the house and just it into the wall. Ive had this little fridge for over 3 years now and have never had a problem. Its actually my nightstand in my bedroom (im a local driver now).
