When some of the Ice Road Truckers went over to drive in that other country, in those beat up trucks. That was Extreme !
Over hear in the US everything is hauled the same way, under the same rules and regulations, dangerous, or not dangerous. Special loads, get special drivers. Drivers that know more about the product on the truck than most of us. They get paid well, and do more than just drive the truck most of the time. Some of the military loads can have exceptions to the rules at times. Other than that, the weather in the Midwest around April and May. -
well I guess this is a two sided answer but the most challenging I have ever done is driving a log truck in northern minnesota due to the terrain issues and the uneven roads and the lack of stability of your load its like atv driving with a 100 ft vehicle But as far a pay the best was working for a company that hauled explosives and radioactive wont give out the name for security purposes but it was not uncommon to make over 200,000 a year but you had to deal with the danger and route guides and regulations etc.

I haul compressed gases, flammable, nonflammable and inhalation hazard. I usually have 200 to 300 cylinders on the truck. Most extreme part is keeping an accurate manifest as I swap them out over 12 to 15 stops in a week. Sometimes 30 or more different gases on the truck. I also haul a tanker with flammable liquid. No baffles in the tank and it really sloshes around. Got to keep your head into it all the time. The pay is good and I'm home every weekend and hotels every night. Just my 2 cents

Its good to have a job that keeps you sharp. I drove a 10 wheeler dump truck that went to a lot of places that did not have any roads yet, kinda like being a billy goat with wheels. Had lots of steep drop off's.
