Tractor you have driven or trailer you have pulled?

I run LTL and in the city and we still have tractors from the late 80s, but most are early 90s...About 10 years ago I was regularly driving different Macks from the mid 70s. Twin sticks, no power steering, no air ride, no AC, no radio. Alot of our city tractors to this day still have no air ride, no AC, no radio, no power anything. I dont think many of these crybaby megafleet rookies would last a week in one of these honestly.

Back then I was probably pulling trailers built as early as 1970.

What made me think of this is last week I pulled a Fruehaf (sp?) rail van that was stamped 1979. I was told its one of the oldest trailer we have still in operation.

Seems alot of new drivers havent driven anything older than a 2006 big plastic Freightshaker.

So lets hear it.......WarGames should be in here in a minute to put me to shame..

I bought a flat trailer to sell on to a guy I know who builds mobile diamond sorting plants on to them.
Did not have a single dent in the deck.
Was owned by a board company.
1958 Brockhaus model in pristine condition except that the one complete hub was missing , backing plate and all.
Apparently been like that for 30 years.
Got it at a great price.
Could not find any parts for the hub.
    Had some cast and machined.
They were air but worked with a pull type wedge not s cams.

1987 Ford F700 tractor at Pepsi. It had a turbo 3208 cat and a 5 X 2 transmission. No AC and vinyl seats. It did have vent windows at least. Would do 75mph with the engine screaming at governed RPM. My route included an hour and a half of highway driving. I think I had hearing loss from that truck, lol!

OK, I think I might have the record on this one.
I drove a 1946 Peterbilt, while hauling logs for my uncle when I was 17.
Yes, I drove over the road. Had to get to the mill.
No, I wasn't legal, but I was 17 and invulnerable!
Probably did that one for six weeks.
Other than that, ran a 1966 FL COE back in 72 for a while.

When I went to truck school in '76, the owner had a cab over Dodge with a gas engine and a 10 speed and air brakes ! Plus a couple snub nose Int'l gas engines with 5/2. Second company I worked at local had a '36 tandem 30' trailer, open top, for sawdust/shavings.

Cut my teeth in a '78 International S-2500. Big cam 400 Cummins, 13 spd, 4:33s on walkin beam suspension. I was pulling a 60 something model Hobbs gravel trailer. This was in '97. I ran that ol warhorse for 4 yrs then got an '81 Freightshaker with air-ride. I thought I was a big dog then. lol
