Yes there are reasons , legit ones. Newer trucks have so many safety features that all kinds of warnings go off if it feels your following to close. No big deal to me either way , don't sweat it.

 

When you come back over, if you are not far enough out n front, I may do that. Why you ask.
Simple; your tires may be tossing rocks into the air, hitting my truck. Then you have the buffeting from the turbulence off the rear of your trailer. Always water spray when wet or snow/ice. And last, if you have a major problem, blow a tire or something then My truck is in your debris field. That stuff breaks things.

 

You are probably cutting in too soon. As a passenger motorcoach driver, I will switch lanes if you cut too close in front of me and there is space available in the left lane.

We need LOTS of following distance for safety, not to mention we have about 40 square feet of windshield costing $$$$’s if you start throwing rocks up at me. It’s amazing how many drivers think it’s OK to come back over the second they clear your bumper. Happens way too often...

With that said, happens to me mostly with 4 wheelers, since I don’t get passed by many trucks. If I do, it’s usually rolling coal past me in a blur thus not really the problem referenced in this thread

It’s basically nanny systems that make me change lanes. Specially uphill where I don’t want to lose my speed. If he merged back into lane about 2-3 truck lengths ahead of me then all’s well.

 

The business end of that truck is out the windshield , not driving down the highway looking at what a driver does you just past.

 

I'm guessing you're a door slammer. If you pass me and there's nobody in the left lane, I'll get over. I like to see what's going on up ahead, as opposed to hoping you don't panic slam on your brakes.

Spend more time handling your own business, and less time minding other's. Truckers spend all day getting passed. It's hilarious that you think they care about getting passed by you.

 

I had a new one the other day... i passed another truck the other day . I wasnt about a half truck length passed and he changed lanes to the left lane and got right behind me . I thought ok thats weird ? Theres nothing up ahead no cars in sight, so i moved over into the right lane and then he did the same thing ? Tried to get him on the cb , see if he saw something i didnt , no response ... thought it was odd.

 

Myself I prefer to be able to see as much real estate in front of me as possible.
Like the truck on my ### today that hit the step ladder after my lane change.
