I dont have much experience with some of the newer trucks. But how the truck is set up and the quality of the interior will have a strong effect on interior noise levels.
The quietest truck I ever drove was a 2010 Pete 386 with the upscale padded interior,.. this truck had everything and was decked out. It was under powered with the PaccarMX engine. But that was one of the quietest engines I ever drove. You hardly heard a thing. I could barely hear the turbo spool with the windows up. I believe shifting gears made more noise than the engine.
How ever,.. that truck would put me to sleep. I need noise. Fortunately,.. the truck came with a pretty decent audio system. Even had a subwoofer under the sleeper. Had XM satellite,.. I would crank it up.

My Cascadia was way quieter than my Columbia. The Century/Columbia models have such cheaply designed cabs with so much plastic they are just going to be noisy rattle traps no matter what you do. It's a bummer, if they had just spent a few more dollars on the cab they would have had a super design.
The 2013 Pete 386 I'm in now is probably quieter than my Cascadia. I have driven a Volvo for about a month. I recall it was super quiet, but I hated almost everything about that truck.OONewbie Thanks this. -

When I first bought my 05 Silverado Classic I thought I would grind the flywheel or starter gears off because I would hit the key when the engine was already running. How would you explain that and try to get it fixed under warranty? Um,m.. you guys made the truck too quiet?
I dont think I had 3k miles on it when I gutted the factory exhaust and put a dual exhaust with Dynomax mufflers on it just so I could hear the darn thing. Truck has almost 200k on it now and still have that same exhaust under there. Been a real good pick up.

Summit Racing carries several different brands of insulation at a decent price. I'm slowly doing my classic a little at a time. I like the peel and stick, then you do not have to fool around with glue. It's better with what little I have done. I started with the doors. The factory insulation packages are not that expensive when installed when the truck is being built and they work well. Just some ignorant salesman getting the price of the truck down $500.00. I pulled part of the interior when I first got this truck to replace the co-ax and Sirius cables. Not a fun job!

My Petes were very quiet,,I order the last 3 with an artic insulation package,it not only helped keep the cab and sleeper warmer in the winter and cooler in the desert summer heat but made it very quiet , plus I bought cummins engines,,you can also insulate your sleeper can cab with the same spray foam used to insulate reefer trailers,,
My first truck had an 8V92 very noisy the second a 3406 CAT after that my last 4 had Cummins, makes enjoying the stereo a lot better.Oh leave your CB radio off too , today a CB has not real use.
