I run hard so I can get back home to my family, don't care if someone else thinks its a cheap rate. If I can keep making the $$ I am then I will be making more than probably 70 to 80% of the people within 200 miles of my home. If my truck wasn't governed at 66 mph I'd average more than 650 miles a day, every mile I run today is one I don't have to run tomorrow... And one more mile closer to my family. That's what is important to me, making sure my family is taken care of and that I can spend as much time with them as possible... They are my world.

Exactly.... In my area. I'll be making more than a States Attorney. I bought a house, and car, with my old job. Now? I'm looking forward to paying off both of those. Having a decent retirement. Ain't no way I'm gonna waste money on bigger or better. I blew money like that when I was young. New BMW. The whole nine yards. I love my Corolla better. Besides, cars with engine brakes, are great for truckers. :)
Yes, objectively, long hours out on the road. I'm just facing the fact. I'm going to be living different. Hurried and hectic on my time off. Relax, like an ultra marathoner, and run when I drive.

What can a new driver make in their first year running general freight dry van and reefer?. Below is from my settlement last week. Obviously the number will increase as there is still many days left in December.

I posted a screenshot so there wouldn't be any doubts as my honesty as some have mentioned that drivers like to BS.

I'm aware that is peanuts compared to what others make, but I am quite pleased with the money I earn for the amount of work I do. I could make more somewhere else, but what would be the trade off?. Crappier Truck?, more headaches?. More physical labor?. When the time comes to move on, I will know it and I doubt the reason will be that I am not making enough money where I am now.

Even though the settlement is missing. No big deal. Have a good idea of the numbers. Something like $4400 for a week. Then, after payments, and smart business putting away. You end up with about $1800. Also have all the risk, and responsibility of fixing the truck. That is very real risk.
I think it is rare to find somebody who is competent enough in business, to lease the first year. Most should spend time learning. (Like myself) If going to lease or to O/O.

I clicked post reply instead of upload file by mistake. I am a company driver, I don't lease or own a truck, nor would I ever.

I have toyed with the idea of going o/o in a few years but all the over head expense is kind scary to me.

I'm not knocking you down, everyone situation is different. Get your experience, that rate and schedule will burn you out quick. Family is important, and should always be that way. But remember you shouldn't have to push yourself for that extra mile and squeeze out every second of your 14.
When people are pushed to the limit mistakes happen.....
Stay safe, just keep in mind how unfortunate/ tragic it would be for your family to lose you.
