Its always about the money, even when you pay your dues. This is the reason there is a revolving door on fresh meat. Pay these guys and they may just hang around a while.

Maybe I've just read too many threads about the way these large companies treat their drivers. Perhaps they are just the unhappy ones, cause of their own self doing. Seems to me the pay is just above minimum wage when figure in all the hours. Awful lot of work at that wage. I'm a stupid safe driver so it goes like this. You want it there safely on time and not beat the heck out of the equipment I'm your man but you gotta pay me at least something worth the hours and conditions I have to work under. Lets not forget I don't work for free unless its family.

There's drivers at Trimac making well over $100K but it takes 2 yrs. to qualify for that.

Some of you are keeping my hopes up, I started looking at other professions that I really had no desire to do, and some that I do but I still want to drive. I just don't want to do it for minimum wage.

Well, as long as you don't sit in the truck when you don't run it's OK I guess but if you do I would quit tomorrow.

This website is great though, you are right. People here have done a lot to encourage me to keep going and not toss in the towel.

I work 6 days then have 2 off. Of those 6 I spend 2 MAYBE 3 nights in the truck. The rest of the time I'm at home. Again, I could have run a lot harder and stayed in the truck on the road 5 out of those 6 nights but I chose not to.

You shouldn't worry about money just yet.Can you do 600-700 miles in a truck today and repeat it tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow? Can you get up at 2 am for 3am appointment? If you can you will do alright money wise.

    DoubleO7 and TravR1 Thank this.
