i get $10 per hour. (company driver)
in fact, even a union gig i had, was $10 per hourdeathB4decaf Thanks this. -
Depends on the co. Most give it AFTER two hrs, in other words, the first two hrs are on the driver, just like getting unloaded. There's no "bible" on this. With many co's, the driver has to fight to get it, even tho it's co policy to pay it. And then, are we talking OTR drivers VS local drivers. Is the truck broke down for 4 hrs or 4 days ? Is the truck broke down 1000 mi from home base ? Or 35 mi ? A good rule of thumb is less than a normal days pay, maybe half.

at my current employer (and even my former union gig) i get it ASAP when i call in the breakdown. there is no time limit at my current employer. we have leased trucks, so there are garages on all our routes, or nearby. not like an o/o or company with thier own trucks who has to wait nearly forever for road service.

Yeah, an hourly employee will stay on the clock until he goes home. A road driver paid by the mi, different story.

They are OTR drivers for a driveaway/towaway operation and he is far from base plus they are hourly.Oxbow Thanks this.

If they are paid by the hour why is this even a question?
Nust pay hourly untill they are rolling again.
Only worry if it's an overnight breakdown. And even then it should be up to the normal hours worked. -
The person who use to handle these situations is no longer with the company and left no information on how they use to handle it. It was a couple of nights for the breakdown.
