Laredo. Only been there once, and it wasn't real difficult to get in and out of places as I recall (I don't remember where we loaded/unloaded), but that was the dirtiest place I've ever seen. And I was in Iraq! :biggrin_25523: lol

Delivered carpet padding in Fort Wayne, IN. There were four rows of buildings and it was tight for a sleeper and a 53. I tried for 10-15 minutes to bump the dock and never could get the angle I needed. The guy came out and asked what the problem was and I told him. He said, well other big trucks have delivered here and they always managed to bump the dock. So persistent as I was, I tried again for another 5-10 minutes and then the guy came back out and said, "you know, come to think of it, the other big trucks were day cabs". By that time I was at wits ends. I wanted to smack the Sh** out of him so bad I couldnt stand it but I think by the look in my eyes....he got the message.

The only one I've truly hated was the 99 Cent Only DC down in Los Angeles off Indiana St. at the south side docks. I watched a lot of mirrors get ripped off that day and that was with everyone folding their mirrors into the tractor to prevent exactly that. In the first hour alone I saw three mirrors get pulled enough to render them useless with one of them getting pulled off completely. The doors of the trailers would lay against the doors of the guy next to you when you were all the way back in the dock. It probably wouldn't be so bad if they weren't open docks. Of course though as with all open docks, one guy gets too far to one side then the rest of the line gets smashed all up together.

It was nice though to see everyone help each other out there. Every truck that backed in had a driver spotting on each side of the trailer and a guy spotting the nose for the poles they had laid out at your front end. Personally, I got in quite well with some good spotters, it was just the sitting on edge all day hoping the guy next to you didn't leave so you didn't have to worry about another guy having to back into his spot.

Guy & Sons Tree Farm in Woodburn, Oregon comes to mind. This was a recent load. Out in the middle of nowhere, in a residential area, raining, muddy, not a lot of English spoken and they like to put more in the trailer than they should. First time I scaled: 84,600. Nope. Btw, I had just over a quarter tank of fuel. Next time I scaled, 79,960. Perfect he said. What about my fuel? Not my problem he said. That was a long trip from Oregon to Virginia.

Sounds like Graybar Electric in Philly. I had a hell of a time backing in, there wasn't enough room. He says " trucks come in and out of here all the time, no problem." An old Yellow Ford cabover with a 28' pup comes in. "Like that one?" I asked. "Yeah, what's the difference" he asked...... I walked away.

I think every driver dreads hearing that. Classic line. I was once told over the phone before I showed up that I was the first 53' they ever had. That inspired a lot of confidence on the way up there.

Must have had a roll up door. 3" a side here with the doors closed. Don't remember the name but somewhere in Chicago. No traffic to deal with but it's inside which is always fun.
