Ha
Yep
My cousin drives OSOW and he has to install the banners and beacon , stop and walk in the oversize permit in the Tennessee scales , when they are empty, because their trailer is 9 inches longer than allowed . TN has some weird kingpin to back bumper length law ? In addition to overall length law?
What is to stop an overweight tractor-trailer from avoiding all weigh stations?

Its on You...The Driver.whatever you decide to do.I used to Always take the Tracy/Weston exit on i29 or 135 in Missouri cant remember which. Anyway you veered off, went west and turned North by an Antique Store. I wasn't overweight, just didn't like the possible delay of the scale .Anyway in the winter ,(with the leaves missing from the trees) ,they could see you possibly. You drive parallel to the interstate, yhen make a right and get back on past it. One day a cop is sitting there..steps out and flags me down. Wants to know what I'm trying to do..where I'm coming from/going etc. I respond with " Just driving down a state hwy ,sir". This went back and forth for a while.Nothing wrong with my truck..only 25k in the trailer. If I would have been overweight ,it would be a portable scale or trip back to the scale, cab. Till someone unloads part of trailer, overweight tickets etc. The dot can't " pick your route. Trucks were allowed on this back road.Overweight .Trucks from McCormick Whiskey plant would use this shortcut and overweight dump trucks frequently. One time, while being shook down at scale a Mo Highway Patrol heard an oleboy " requesting info on how to dodge yhe Harrisonville Mo scale. He says "I'm gonna go see if I can find this knucklehead..and he did. So, yes they monitor the cb.Just saying, its Risky and not a good feeling, when they're " waiting for youCoffey, slow.rider and PoleCrusher Thank this.

Get off the highway and go around, anyone who’s ever worked by the ton will know atleast 3 ways around every scale in the area, I used to run out of ct 20+k overweight because it was a legal load in MA and NY, avoid them all together

Probably only if they're equipped as such, which would likely only be the case if they were on that specific assignment.
