Trucking has been a breeze for me. Went into it with no pride, and listened to people who wanted to see me through it.

day trading is the most logical way to make money. Risky if you blindly believe that, treat it like anything else…give it some 100s-1000s of hours of learning and understanding and it becomes like everything else you’ve ever gotten good at

You think you can't get burned? Ok... Yeah when bitcoin first came on the scene I knew about it but I thought it's total ######## that will never amount to much. Kind of like all the bitcoin copycats ripping people off now. I sure wish I had wasted a $1,000 on that investment back then to cash out like last year. Seems like more luck than anything..

of course I know the downside. I took 20k worth of losses last year on several trades. I bought 10 Bitcoin for $550 dollars back when I was a teenager. Spent it on the Silk Road haha.

I mitigate my losing risk by trading what I know, and trading in strategy. If I want to gamble I go play poker, if I want to make money I drive or trade the market.

I shoot for $1000 a day after expenses. I have been doing way better than that. 5.50 a mile on 100 miles is nothing like 4.00 on 1000 miles.

$800 per day, or $4000 per 5 days always was my limit for the last few years. However with ever rising fuel cost, parts and repairs labor, nowadays the low limit should be $1000 for dry vans and $1500 for reefers.

Looking at it another way if you don’t talk rates than you just might have a carrier hauling cheap freight dropping rates on a lane you run and we all know brokers hold those rates for those lanes once somebody takes it for cheap.Hell the carrier might think that he’s hauling the stuff for a good rate but in reality it’s super cheap and all because he’s uninformed.

I agree. Most members are credible and can give you an eye opener. I got my authority in 2016 and it took me a long time to assess the paying potential on lanes that I do. Prior I was leased on for 2 years and paid on average less than 1.5 per mile. So when I pulled my first load that I booked...heavy salt bags from Chicago to Dayton, OH for $700 I was all ecstatic. More than 2.00 dol per mile on 300 miles appeared a great rate.
Especially, that the average rate indicators on DAT load board were lower at the time. But the time itself was poor. So when read a post, from someone credible, that that lane was paying $1000 or more 2 years earlier without any effort to negotiate for it, it was a valuable piece of information.
When someone starts fresh and has little clue, they might be shy to shoot for more than what they see on the 'offered rates' column. I mean much more, even twice as much than what is posted ...especially on those short, 100-300 mile runs.

I think now, that the dignity threshold is not a result of some arithmetical formula but the immediate, psychotic or mental reaction to the proposed rate.
It involves surrounding circumstances such as what conditions the spot market is under at the time and what my own expectations are at that moment.

The minimum rate, on the other hand, should be based on accounting. The minimum rate, or minimum revenue per day, should be at least high enough to satisfy someone's immediate financial needs.

I’m to the point now, it’s NOT about meeting any specific minimums but more about just getting as much as I can.

When I started (6 years ago leased on) my mind set was “ I gotta beat my minimum to take it” … Now ( my own numbers) it’s “let’s see how high we can get”.

I’m sure it won’t last forever so I keep in touch with what my minimum need to be.

I do pretty good averaging above 2k gross per day solo, but I also don't get too hung up on RPM. That 33k 10 day trip included a 2.59 load over 2k miles, but set me up for a 3.90 2300 mile load.
