I don’t have a specific number, but any TQL call-in offered rate appears to be below my dignity somehow.

I wasn’t sure how to answer the thread but this is it for me right there.

Always be searching the highest paying lane, freight type, region, etc and always be pushing to the moon with rates getting every last penny. The rest falls where it falls. Someone once told me “You can only do all you can do” which was pretty profound when I thought about it.

Could even take that out to quarterly. I used to park the truck for the entire first quarter every year. Three solid months of NOL on the ledger. Then look at quarters 2-3 and it paints a drastically different picture.

I always try to start out with a good load doing 2-4 days with average of 2k a day or more. Than try and keep 2k a day or as close as I can. Then if something doesn’t go my way I don’t worry as much.

this week sucked. Started out 3k per day but ran over a tire and now only gonna make 9k for week. And add the cost for new tires and fixed trailer. Good news is I made some money because I set high before I go out.

edit would have been a great week and 2 days if not for my load getting canceled on Friday afternoon for $8200. That one hurt me bad since no time to find anything good.

The idea of a dignity rate is very interesting.

I guess it's kind of like when it's 11 and the club is jumping and all of the girls are pretty and single, the rate is higher.

When it's 1:30 in the morning and everybody is paired up and there are slim pickings left and you are looking at things through beer goggles, then your dignity rate drops and you grab what you can grab before the lights come up and you see what you're grabbing...

Just try not to end up in bed with TQL.

The 100 truck reefer fleet lm leased too is pretty much telling customers this is what you are going to pay or you won't be getting trucks .

I look at my math much the same except I won’t do favors unless for a very well paying agent for that cheap freight rate

I look at monthly and a per day and mile rate

I’ve had some in the past say “ you can bounce X miles and load, at least the extra money we got you will cover your fuel “
I ask them. How about you come in Friday and work free and I’ll cover your fuel?

Point is, we are drivers. Get paid to drive so why should empty be any less $$??

So when I look at a run I use several factors but again, still no favors

The place my uncle is at doing power only and dad used to be leased to them are raising the rates. About 5 company trucks and 25-30 owner ops with around 40-50 trailers, mostly vans. They control a lot of freight around the Binghamton area.

They never pull for cheap, and its 95% one way freight. Over the years many many companies would drop them for a cheaper carrier but they would always come crawling back and pay the higher rate. After it probably ended up costing more in the long run.
