its because it's such a low skilled job anybody can do it. Look at any truck stop and tell me I'm wrong, you have people 18-80, legally blind, crippled, morbidly obese and crazy doing it. It if required any real skills we wouldn't be called steering wheel holders.

Now turn your parking lights off... -
Low skilled? Truck drivers are not low skilled in my opinion, but steering wheel holders? That's a horse of another color. Steering wheel holders are easy to spot. They have absolutely no pride in their profession, steering wheel holder doesn't care what the truck looks like so he runs over curbs busting tires, bending bumpers. Busting fenders on post, poles and buildings, and why???? Because they don't have the skill set to maneuver a truck and trailer without causing harm to the equipment. Accidents happen but a truck driver will work hard to protect his truck, no matter how difficult the area he is in.

Only job is to hold the wheel. Dispatcher tells them what to do, GPS tells them where to go, ECM shifts, brakes, etc.
Salary level is commensurate with seat warmer position. -
Someone who's afraid to get off their rearend and go back and actually work in the trailer..... You know that place that actually makes the money......

#callmeasteeringwheelholderToothpick1 Thanks this. -
Somebody that has zero clue on how to make minor repairs..

I work in foodservice so I'm spending 90% of my day unloading instead of driving. With that being said my idea of a steering wheel holder is anyone bumping docks all day and only getting out of the cab for fuel or a break.
