    Amen. To me its part of good trip planning. I have done 8/2 split breaks to work a shower into a tight run when I had to park somewhere that I didn't have a free one the night before. Hopefully the forced 30 minute break will clean up a few stinky guys.

    I tried to make my own steering wheel holder once...

    .... but it kept spraying hot coffee on me when I was cornering.

    I gave up on the concept.

    I consider a steering wheel holder as any driver that tries to make u-turns on narrow roads or small parking lots, speaks little English, can't read a map, doesn't even know what transmission or engine the truck has, the make of the truck, wears sweat pants, flip flops, or crocs, and just lacks plain common sense.

    My definition of "Steering Wheel Holder" is anyone that drives a truck because it's just a job.

    A Truck Driver, drives because it is a life style, and would do nothing else.

    A driver that does it because it is a job, does not put the same value on Professionalism, or Safety as one that looks at it as a lifestyle. I will get chewed out for this but, okay so be it.

    A Truck Driver, cares about image, has pride in their Ride and carries themselves with professionalism.

    A "steering Wheel Holder" cant stand to talk with other drivers like the Truck Driver. They don't care about where the Truck Driver has been, or where he/she is going. They simply are driving a truck because in this economy, it's the best thing next to China-Mart, or flipping burgers. Which reminds me, a Steering Wheel Holder makes statements like, "I could make more money flipping burgers at McDonald's". You will NEVER hear that from a Truck Driver.

    You will never see a true Truck Driver get out of their truck with pajama's on. Never!

    You will never see a Truck Driver talk nasty to a female.

    You will never see a Truck Driver pee in the parking lot.

    You will never see a Truck Driver tolerate the actions of a Steering Wheel Holder. In fact, we Truck Drivers tolerate more than we should.

    Sure, there have always been bad drivers, since the first truck was invented but, Truck Drivers delt with these drivers, unlike today.

    It doesn't matter if you pull a flat, van, reefer or tanker. Doesn't matter what you pull, you can be a Truck Driver or a Steering Wheel Holder. Doesn't matter if you OTR or Local.

    (almost forgot about this thread)

    I meant it when i said these answers are great, ya see I HAVE done alot of the things one time or another that "steering wheel holders" do.............. sure i could chalk it up to being a company driver, teaching myself how to drive, ####iness, or a combination of the three...... What I WILL say is this- I joined this site hours after finding out that i in fact could continue my driving career after a really dumb choice I made I thought had ended that career..... after doing what was asked of me im about 2 weeks away from re-obtaining my CDL, and im 1000% sure that with all of the reading i've done on here in the last year or so: IF I was a "steering wheel holder" before- I sure as he ll am not going to be one now. This place is a WEALTH of information and im glad its here.

    Note: i still dont know how to log, but hey nobody's perfect! lol

    Almost forgot to add, although there are alot of references to steering wheel holders that i fit on here, im happy to point out there were a few on the "trucking professional" that fit me also! :headbang::headbang: (like looking back at your truck as you walk away)

    A driver can go from being a "Steering Wheel Holder" to a "Truck Driver" and visa versa. I am glad to read that you are at least honest with yourself and obviously you care about what you do, and that is why you are working to become, a "Truck Driver". I wish you the best
