That's great money. Even pulling their van at 65% or 66% (surcharge broken out at 100% to you right?) it's great. I have no reason to doubt it. You live up there and know what you can get. I wish I could tap into some longer hauls like that right now.

We had some jokers ruin our saftey rating. Some of it was bogus stuff like your ordeal but much of it was inexcusable and they got cut loose too. It's disappointing the business it has cost me and other operators here but we'll get thru. Still have contacts I work with regular who will give me first shot at loads regardless plus some 3PL stuff that's pretty good the office will bid on.

Thing is, when you post a truck available saftey scores are the first thing most brokers check and very few of them will call. Aggravating is what it is but like I said we'll get thru it just takes time and everyone must do their part maintaining equipment and keeping correct paperwork. And there is still always someone who will load the truck regardless.

If you go independent take care of your scores like your life depends on it. Lots of operators don't take that stuff serious but they ought to. I used to think it was a good thing, and in some ways still do, but there seems to be no good way to appeal bogus nitpicking BS from power happy cops. And that ain't right.

This is one of the down sides to working for the ''mega's''.We are ''grouped'' in with the tards and dummies..Not to mention we are also grouped in with the ''group avg IFTA''...Sad but true..

I have been saying it for a for years now..We are all being tossed off to the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR.

    You are correct.

Gaurd that CDL with your life.If it means go over the mountain and around the river to avoid, then do it.We are better off..I for one will at some point go on my own, just for the simple FACT i will have a FRESH ZERO SCORE and not be in a Group jerk off session with L/S Lowered hiring criteria..Not to mention i will save 5,000 a year right out of the gate..

What is going to save you $5000? I wound up spending more to get my authority, ins, and so on. BUT that 30% of say $150,000 line haul will be a nice $45,000 chunk of change to keep.

Bobtail Ins = 1820.00...NOT NEEDED with Auth

Workers Comp = 3640.00...NOT NEEDED with Auth

IFTA= Not in a ''group avg'' like Landstar

    E-LOG= 348.00 NOT NEEDED

    Tags= 1800.00 pus 200 for permits...Own Auth is around 1300.00...

Trans flo = 2.00 a page and 2.00 to load the card...

    Count the saving Mike...

It is no secret L/S charges us ''unessasary'' charges...

I see what you mean. I didnt think about the comp and bob-tail.

As far as the average group ifta thing goes... I got my average fuel mileage bumped up from 6 to 7mpg my last year or so with ls. i told the lady that i was running flatter roads and lighter loads, and she bought it. Check and see where they have you set at, and see if they can change it.
The savings would be close to covering your higher general liability and cargo ins costs.

I buy all my fuel in NY.This alone should qualify me for a ''refund''..All my other carriers i leased to,gave me a nice check every quarter.

Not the case with Landstar Ranger..They still wak me for some unknown reason. That is when i called my other personality,''Ivestigative Reports''...ROLMFAO

This is when i found out about this whole ''group'' B/S..They even do a group avg on MPG..They say i get 5.0 mpg every quarter...:biggrin_2551:.....It L/S Cadillac Fund for the Rich Jewish NY BOYS...

I am going to be looking into getting my own account and toss Landstar,if possible..I took GMAN advice and he said i may be able to get my own account and CUT LANDSTAR OUT....

Even if you idled that 12.7 i dont see how it could go down to 5mpg. Getting canned from ls was a blessing. im glad i no longer put up with their bs and stealing of fsc and so on.

He wishes he would of went on his own AUTH 25 years ago..He said it was actually a blessing to be tossed out of the Landstar System and all the B/S..lol,lol
