actually, that nut in the center of the pulley once removed, and a puller is used, it comes off and no freon escapes. a shop can/should be able to switch that out in under 1 hour, not including the time you have to wait for the job to even get started.beastr123 Thanks this.

you mean just replace the clutch?
-
i do not see anything out of the usual for that clutch to not be working. i surmise you checked all the fuses, and relays and such?
many times, i'd see rust dust to indicate a bad clutch. also check the wiring to the clutch, it could just be corroded at the connecting plugbeastr123 Thanks this. -
yeah, if the clutch went "kaput", that's just a simple replacement, maybe about $100 to $150, over say maybe a $400 compressor, then labor, then recharging the system.nikmirbre Thanks this.

Yeah I had given that some thought....... If I can find the clutch and it last me a month or so until vacation time that'd be great, I can replace that myself.
-
but the clutch, is "pressed onto" the shaft.. you or a mechanic will need a pulley-puller, to remove it, and to re-install the new one. never hammer it back on, never use a crowbar or screw drivers to pry it off
nikmirbre Thanks this. -
if you can locate a new clutch at say AutoZone, NAPA,, whatever, they rent tools.
nikmirbre Thanks this. -
On that 1st picture look at the front........ the little inner ring is loosecke Thanks this.
