that's funny....but also very true......pressure to get things done can be quite a motivator. once when I was younger I was jobless, homeless and living in a '71 VW in the dead of winter. let's just say it was very motivating to never be in that position again lol
if you count my mortgage I came into it around 100k in debt. monthly bills around 1500 in fixed expenses and variable expenses each month of another couple of hundred between wife and dogs..... I didn't choose the bottom feeder company sponsored slave route and went to an 8 week community college program and came out the other end ahead of the game.
had no problem paying the bills and even saving a little and the wife doesn't work.
3 years into it now life looks pretty good.
What kind of bills did you have before you entered trucking ?

To the OP..........
$1100 per month in bills is NOTHING!!
My Mortgage alone is $2100.00 (But I have a very Nice Brick quad level Home in Southern Cook County) Yes I pay Almost $7,000 per year in property Taxes
My Bills Equate to over $4,000 a month
then I have another $10,000 per month in Business operating expenses (Fuel,Maintenance,Taxes,Tolls,Etc,Etc)
What gets me is........I see these guys driving new or 'overhauled Trucks in prestine Condition.........Living in just about Filth out in the Sticks somewhere. With a Girlfriend and 4 kids.
Why Sacrifice the Finer things in Life?? You work Hard,Drive Nice equipment......Dont You want to have A nice Home too?Fuffster Thanks this. -

There is so many oil field threads here and can't recall one complaining about the money but complaining about the hard work they do to earn their paychecks.Think they get paid hourly and the employer helps with relocation assistance.Which means you bunk with a lot of drivers and rent is like $200.00 a month.I don't know how they log but if its the way we do then yes maxing your 70 in 5 days.Nd and TX is where all the oil field jobs are.

That's one reason I got out of Chicagoland. When you are an OTR trucker you have the luxury of living anywhere. I live a lot better where I'm at now at over half what I was paying up there. You can have nice things just as well in the country and not be in debt to the ying yang! -
Absolutely.......
Its the Little things that matter to me (being ive been here in Chicago all my life) Love it here, Wont Go anywhere else until i retire anyway
Sure its cheaper living in rural areas ...But like anything ewlse in life. You get what you pay for..
Do you have:
1.Concrete or asphalt surrounding your property.. As opposed to Dirt and Gravel?
2.Do you have quality Schools NEARBY for children to attend without warranting a schoolbus and a 30 mile trek?
3. Do you have a Police Dept and Fire dept in your Township?
4.Do you have City Drinking water to your home with Sewage leading to a city disposal site?
5.Do you have Streetlamps marking your property OR lamps at least on your Block or road?
6.Are you Safe from Natural disasters..such as Tornadoes,Mudslides,Floods and such?
This is just a short example why I could NOT live in rural areas
