The reason I asked is I drove for a company with one of these engines in an '08 Pete no one could give details on. I finally found out that after countless problems with this truck, Cat put what was called an expermental engine in the truck. It didn't give much trouble after that, but at 63 mph you could break 4 mpg instead of the regular 3.4 to 3.6 it got. This was a yellow 386. Hopefully this isn't what you bought.

Those 10 trucks almost put the company out of business.

I have no idea, on the top front of the head besides the word "CAT" are the numbers OR0758 and below that are 007 US 1 and a casting number on the side of the head 7C3346X with a 8 below it. IMG_7009.jpg 3F13If3J75L65K15Hcd294abb03ce0c961e9f.jpg 3Fd3I23Hb5Lb5K95Ffd29f7457322fc961e2b.jpg

Those are just part numbers for the head, your best bet it to call your truck dealership and have them run your serial number then they can give you the engine serial, that eliminates the guessing.

I wish I could but I bought the motor as you see it, has a rebuild tag saying .020 on the rods and mains and STD bore. I called my local Cat dealer and all they could tell me was that the OR meant it was rebuilt. ??? Do I need to tear it down to figure this out? IMG_7015.jpg
