I prefer any kind with the ratchet adjustment and a stampede strap. I'd forgotten what a hard hat hitting the ground sounded like until earlier this week strapping down a 13' tall load next to a guy without the stampede strap. I thought they were silly when Gerdau made me get one, but I absolutely love it.

One of our customer manufactures tubes. Sometime they are 52' and stick out past the end of the trailer. While under, securing the tar, I stood up. I would have brained myself if I hadn't been wearing a hard hat. You see, occasionally they come in handy!

Nowadays I feel naked if I leave the truck without my hard hat. It's habit now.

You know you have the habit when you step into church and the pastor gives you a funny look and says, "You think God is looking to strike you down?"

Full brim gives you more space for stickers

Ever heard of a hard hat having an expiration date? I delivered to an Exxon gas terminal a few years ago, the safety guy looked inside my hard hat and told me it was expired. WTH ! Never heard that one, It does have some numbers stamped in it. He said they require 7 yrs or newer. I have had mine for many years. He loaned me one to make my delivery.

Yep. Plastic gets brittle. That's why they have their manufacture date stamped in them.

Fibre-Metal Roughneck....Only one I'll wear. Fairly light and about as strong as you can get. And they work great if you have a quick connect face shield.
