    Bullcrap.
I have been using DELL Laptop(s) for over 10 years and NEVER had an issue from "shaking and vibration". I ONLY replaced them because they were outdated.
DELL products (and their Customer Service) are unsurpassed.

You can get a DECENT DELL for about $700 or less now. I am on my third DELL in 10 years, and only replaced the other two units because they were outdated. I STILL have them, and they BOTH still work. I bought it online and it was cheaper than buying it at Walmart, plus I got to "SPEC" it.

You can buy a "3-In-One" type printer (printer/copier/scanner) from Walmart for between $60 and $90 (HP).

I would recommend BROADBAND over WiFi. WiFi isn't really secure. What BRAND of Broadband I would suggest is SPRINT. If you already have Sprint Cellular Service, Broadband is $59.99 a month UNLIMITED. Verizon sells "unlimited" as well, but it isn't really "unlimited".
I have also found that where-ever there is ANY cell phone signal, you can send/receive email and web surfing might be possible as well.

I wouldn't recommend any "inverter" of less than 1500W continuous. The smaller ones have the tendency of getting "hot" and I have heard they have caused fires. There is NO cigarette-lighter "plug-in" for laptops yet, that I know of.

One EXCELLENT way I have found of "scanning" a document and sending it on to: dispatch/shippers/receivers etc; is a FREE program called "CutePDF", it allows you to "print" a document to a PDF file. A better way to save the files and much easier to send along to whoever needs them.

I have a Dell also and they last forever. This is my second one and I have had no issues with it whatsoever.

When it comes to desktop computers, I build my own as it's easy to do and much cheaper. Laptops, though, I go for quality AND price. I usually wipe the hard drive when I get them and reinstall the operating system so I get rid of the junk on them but, other than that, I've had absolutely no complaints about my Dell laptop.

I can get service quickly and in ENGLISH from CANADA when I need it and I've not had a thing break. I used it non-stop in the truck for over three months and it did fine.

Of course, it never fell on the floor but I would never let anything valuable fall on the floor. That's just common sense.

Think about it - laptops are meant to be portable, taken in backpacks, on buses, trains, trucks, etc. Long as you don't drop them, they're fine. If you're worried about dropping it or it falling, then you get one of those super duper heavy duty ones mentioned above.

I used a cigarette lighter plug-in adapter thingy when using my laptop in the truck and it worked just fine.

    It looked like this:

I had Verizon and it is NOT unlimited, it is 5 GB per month, which was plenty for me personally. The card worked just about everywhere I ever tried it.

Sorry RK-I have to disagree with you on Dell Cust support. 1st laptop was Dell and had some small issues. Had much more trouble trying to get whichever Indian answered to help me. He had great attitude but language barrier was awful. Also gave me free printer that you could only by ink from them exclusively. They're both out in garage with the rest of junk and stuff that has pissed me off.:biggrin_25516: Have Toshiba P-35 laptop for 2 years now and have had only one problem. Shut off due to over heating. Had let screens over fans get dirty and then stacked papers around. With low airflow it did it's job and shutdown before it was damaged. My bad. Blew out screens and bruched fans a bit and booted right up. Traveled all over Europe and Iraq, UAE. Not even Hadji baggage handlers have hurt it. I better quit bragging or it will lay down on me.:biggrin_25521:

I will take my toughbook and drop it as I'm getting out of the truck. I will bet my tough book against your dell/hp. That my toughbook will be working. I bet you can't spill coffee on it and it continues to work. Accidents do happen

My last professional work was servers and computers. I worked many years at dell and I know the story at that company. I know everything about there diags testing and what components they test. Many of there components are not tested in the dell factory. I know this for a FACT. They did this to reduce factory time. Thats why dell sells you there service plan, maint plan and warranty plan. Its cheaper for them to send a part or a service tech out. Plus they are making money hand over fist doing this. 80% of dell systems built are sold to the gov and business's. If dell loses its gov contracts. That company would dry up in a few years. I think this is another reason why they went retail. Besides working at dell, I have worked on thousands of computers and sever components. Not just dell, I have worked on hp/toshiba/sony, etc, etc. I would never suggest to anyone about something I would not buy myself. My dell quit within the first month on the road due to the truck shaking. It caused my hard drive to fail.

An as far as there customer service is one of the worst in the industry. I can point you to many websites and blogs of horror stories on this company. I'm just glad I left dell while my stock was still worth something.
