I originally bought it to clean the potentiometers on my guitar amps and stereo equipment. I noticed that the pigtail connection tends to get dirty and brought my can of DeOxit along to see if it’d help. Now I never leave home without it!

The aluminum ones can get kinda scraped up and get difficult. First wipe it down with any type of cleaner. No grease goes on the outside of the plug. Clean it good and if it’s not smooth use a piece of Emory cloth or 80 grit sandpaper and make it smooth. This should take about 30 seconds. Keep it clean no grease.

The dielectric grease goes into the holes of the plug not on the outside of the plug.

I ran into this from time to time. My father taught me to use Vaseline. I always kept a jar in my shaving kit for dry skin use. I do have to agree with the above comment. Using anything over time can screw up your pigtail.

I find that cleaning both the pigtail holes and the contacts on the trailer with DeOxit gets the job done pretty much every time. I’ve never had to lube the pigtail.
