I'm very partial to my roadking 56. Tried an astatic but didn't like it as much. What are you running?

It's basically a knock off of a Turner Road King. With claims of more gain and less noise.

Honestly have no idea about the claims though never heard of it either. just google it and it'll come up.

I use an RK but with a beefed up cord! the cheesy cords on the stock ones are junk. good radio shops will replace it almost automatically when they receive it. I got mine at the radio shop in Alb. NM across the street from the Flying J.

if your using power replace the cord.
if not truck stop one will work fine.
power mics only work well in a quiet environment.

Each mic may sound different on the same radio...

    I have a RK-56 on my Cobra29 and Connex 3300HP...they sound great.

I had the same RK-56 on my Connex 4600, it sounds ok. Put an Astatic on my 4600, and it sounded great, but it also has a different sound than the RK-56...

I use an Astatic RD-104 Road Devil Noise Canceling Power Mic. Its nice, it works like a power mic to get you out nice and loud/clear As well as noise canceling.

Ive also used some of those echo mics, which are a pain to tune, ive ditched them, and have my echo board.

Not gonna lie, stock mics normally sound pretty nice as it is.

was using an rk-56 for a little while but my cord bummed out where it connects to the front of my radio.. didn't have time or the tools, have been away from home for a few weeks... or i would have fixed it.

so currently i'm using an astatic 636L.. the one with the steel cord.. heh.

i've been told by a cb shop that some mics work better for some cb's.. like the rk-56 is good for cobra radio's.

Astatic...For the simple reason I got hit in the head in a buddys truck with a "Bungee jumping" Road King. Raised a knot on my head.

Bought an Astatic and never looked back.
