Pulling the dump in the little car I'm getting 5 to 5.5mpg. In the largecar with a heavier trailer I averaged 6 to 6.7. Little truck has a weak motor and I spin the hell outta that thing. Poor C-12...
im averaging 6 to 6.7 mpg, runnin alot of hills at 66 mph with an older t600, complete with 3406e kitty and a skateboard o and im losing boost somewhere, soon as i get that fixed i outta be back to 7+ mpg
I drive an '07 Oshkosh HEMTT with a 550 hp Detroit 8V92 that I have tuned to about 650 with an Allison 5 speed, full time 8 wheel drive and almost 200,000lbs with a full load. I am not sure what my milage is but I know that my 150 gallon fuel tank will only take me to just shy of 300 miles. Not very good!
I'll bet the right driver could make the most aerodynamic out there get horrible mileage. Good mpg's can happen with good driving. 2 weeks ago I left home with 1/4 tank of fuel and drove to kentucky then to mississippi then laredo tx and back to N.E. ohio total mileage was about 3625, I bought 500 gallons of fuel and come back home with 3/4 of a tank. total mpg is not exact as I have to only run 1/2 full most of the time because of weight, so figure 3625 miles on 450 gal.=8.05 and I would say that is pretty close. My new job keeps me out of the hills of PA. and close to 7.5 mpg all the time, not bad for pushing a 20 inch bumper through the air on the front of a 379
This is called having your cake, and eating it too. This is very believable, the less the engine has to work the less fuel it burns
I'm a company driver operating an 07 Freightliner Columbia with 254,000 miles on it. Detroit Diesel with 525hp engined detuned down to 495 hp. Ten spd Eaton. I pull 53' dry van I pull weights anywhere from 2500 to 48000 but I'd say my ave haul is about 30,000lbs. I've been averaging 6.8 which is well over the company's 5.8 average. Newer models I hear are around 7.2. The first week of June I pulled a couple lightweights in a row and was at 8.6 mpg. So they gave me several 45,000 ponders through the mountains of PA that brought it back down to 6.9
Thanks 24valve, with the addition of the turbo and some other tricks i should be close or over 6mpg, i will find out tomorrow, Im always doing 70mph as well to keep her around 1450rpm. You millage is awesome! Big motor and big truck, as long as theres a good driver you can get good millage with large cars.
