01 FLD120 daycab, 10spd, 3.55 gears, 435hp D60, governed # 62mph. Loads average around 66k gross and average 7.5 mpg. I have gotten 11 mpg from Colo Springs, CO to Pueblo, CO. That was empty, downhill, and slight tailwind.
03 Columbia, 430 DD, 13sp, 2.93 averaged 7.04mpg for three weeks. Engine is getting overhaul now, hopefully mileage will go up.
ha, more like 375/430 if he was lucky enough to have the 430 on cruise. My truck is an old Swift. It's currently set at 430/1550. And that's as high as it goes
2006 Freightliner Century Detroit 515 13 Eaton Fuller 356 Rears 53' Dry Van 7 mpg average, traveling between 57-63 mph. I usually run the center of the country (between ranges) but I will go all 48. 77-81 in VA (north or south) sucks with a heavy load, my average mpg on those roads will drop to 6.25.
I'm not a mechanic, maybe that's the figure on the Freightliner tuned down But I can tell you it pulled 2x better than the Volvo and when I managed the right shift I was waving Petes by on an uphill, absolute radio silence on that. Someone told me the old FLD 120 was the most economical, is that right ?
Yeah because of the "full" load in the trailer swift keeps pulling, maybe full but still 10k lbs. Thats why you are scattered all over ditches in winter. The reason why there was radio silence was because the guy in the Pete had his hands full with you trying to pass him and actually has weight in the box With the way swift trucks are set up they wont pull wortha shat with any weight in the box. S60 Detroit never came with a 1850lb rating, the 550 and 575 14 liter did but those didnt last long.
Don't be blaming the poor innocent trucks:smt079 You know that's all driver. I probably have one of the last powerhouses. I used to pull double 48' trailers and was licensed for 110K. It has not been turned down yet.
