I came across a local job I'm interested in. Saying they run Monday through Friday and a half a day Saturday. Driving a dump trailer, dump truck and a walking floor(?). I have no experience with any of these, if they were to hire me, what would be a decent rate? What're some questions I should ask? They do pay percentage.

    Thanks big John

They haul salt in the winter apparently, and that calcium chloride crap. I guess they slow down but you still will get your 40hrs

In Hartford? Hourly/ Ot after 8 or 40? Bennies? All matters

Hourly should start low/mid $20's for average driver, $30 for highly experienced go getter. For a guy with no experience...idk honestly.

Percentage, I think the norm is 27ish but I would shoot for close to thirty if they keep the percentage the same for the duration of employment. That and rates are significantly better in the summer than winter. Remember, as the new guy you'll get the runs nobody else wants because they are long and might not pay the best.
If it was me, I would prefer hourly pay with OT after 40, and atleast 22/hr for the new guy.
Or I would go no less than 27/28 an hour straight pay to start.

Go hourly, if you get stuck somewhere, your getting paid. The people I know that are paid percentage, if they break it down, there making as much as flipping burgers. When I was a rookie, I didn't listen to others opinions. I was happy and on top of the world cause I was driving a big semi truck and trailer. We all know the saying, young and dumb. GO HOURLY

I was gonna say it sounds like Goulet. I have never heard anything bad about them, any of their drivers that I have talked to seemed happy. Their rates seem to be on the upper end of the spectrum compared to most companies. So even at a lower percentage, you may come out ahead vs a few percentage points higher at another outfit. They have some nice equipment and seem like a no-BS type of company. I wouldnt be afraid to take the leap working for them.
