So I haven't really been around much for the last 6 months or more, and that's because I've really applied myself to learning linux and working with things like the Raspberry Pi.
I find that I'm kind of favoring mid-range electronics with fast software to keep things snappy. It's been a lot to learn, and a lot of fun.
It's kind of a fun chuckle when I see somebody with a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone or something. If your phone didn't phone home 2 seconds, it would be even faster than my mid-tier budget phone running Lineage OS. Lol ah well. Maybe you'll get me next time.
Right now I'm working on gathering the ROMs to start cranking out some Raspberry Pi retro gaming machines for friends and family. A computer the size of a credit card is going to have about 2,000 games across 10 different consoles. Like how cool is that?
I don't know. I'm totally geeked out by it. Just seeing if anyone around here is a nerd like me I guess. Lol
What kind of tech stuff do you guys do?

I am a nerd to an extent. Dont get to do as much with it as before i got a CDL but i do like fooling around with programming and im my little groups IT guy and maintain our gaming servers because im the only one that understands how to write C+. Also like to build computers when i can get away with it. I like the high end sever level stuff and built a pretty snazzy rig to run our stuff on a couple years back. Ryzen 3900x with a 2080TI running on 128gb of ram and 20TB of storage over a dozen drives that has been VMed multiple times to keep multiple servers running at once. Massive overkill but worth it imo.

That’s Me, I’ve figured out just enough to function as I go along. Being tech savvy is probably the most important thing needed for success. It’s only going to get more important. Good for the OP.

When you going to get it to stop flashing 12:00?
Coffey, austinmike, D.Tibbitt and 7 others Thank this. -
None besides my phone and a tablet that is only used to play tunes. Tech is stupid.

It's what killed the world as I know it, and am considering pulling the plug on everything electronic for my "personal" solution, including this wonderful site. I know,,"adios", "don't let the door hit you in the ###", and so on, but I feel, being so far out of the loop, it's beginning to show just how far out, nothing is sacred anymore, and I probably just pizz some off with my outdated views. To all who still make their livings doing this, for some unforseen reason, good for you, this screwed up country needs you, but I'd take the days of "Watts lines", manual fuel pumps, made our OWN decisions, brakes YOU adjusted, schedules YOU made due to conditions, and buds that would give you one of their steer tires to help you any day. Electronics for every function in trucks went agin everything I held dear in trucking, and I didn't last long once it became the norm.
