Because I use my iPad when I am not at home. That 5 GB is more than enough and if needed I can top that off. $10 for 5GB of data with 5 months to use it is not really a plan. I made a mistake when I bought that iPad. It is GSM only so I can't use Verizon data. My next iPad will work with Verizon.
What kind of tech stuff do you guys do?

Been collecting as stated earlier. Had since purchased a Marantz 2275 then a 2265B receivers to pair with my Dual turntables....
Just got the 2275 back from service, but have ordered some training and practice soldering kits to attempt these repairs/restorations on my own....
This is the opening minute of No Quarter from a half speed mastered version of Led Zeppelins The Song Remains The Same.
Volume is at 50% . Heres the gear then a youtube video, if its still up.
Dual 1228 into a Marantz 2275 to pair of Onkyo Fusion AV SK-50 4 ways. 120 watts.

I didn't mean to abandon this thread, I just took on a run at my work that is ridiculously long hours, and I've been struggling to live life in addition to working so much.
So an update on what I've done within the last six months or so.
I was running Arch Linux, and then they shipped a version of GRUB with ZERO testing, and it broke both of my computers. My server computer I was able to save, but my main computer I wasn't. That's okay though, because I always use a separate disk for the OS, so I didn't lose any of my data.
But it was enough for me to start looking around. I know Arch Linux is for computer experts, but there's no excuse for shipping an untested package. That's just bad form.
I've been on Fedora Kinoite (an immutable KDE spin) for my main pc since April, and Fedora Server for my homelab server PC since last week.
I remember in my last post, I was talking about learning containers. I've since learned those, and switched from Docker to Podman for rootless containers that offer more security and less ability for hackers to swim upstream into your PC.
My homelab server has rootless containerized Plex, Jellyfin, Home assistant, Tautulli and Heimdall for some pretty container management. But the real brain behind the system is C0ckpit. That app does not play. Not in the least. Highly impressed with that.
Next I'm gonna either do a standalone container of some games my brother and I play, or I'm gonna learn Pterodactyl Game Server Management...I currently think I prefer the standalone container idea, because even as a former Arch user, Pterodactyl looks daunting.
But yes. That's where things sit currently. I'll try and post more, I'm just...working 62-64 hours a week. Lol -
Sits back with Debian with no worries, they call it stable for a reason.
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I don't think I saw the notification for what you wrote back in june. It's kind of funny that you say that.
Fedora server, and Fedora in general, is wonky as hell. I'm done with it.
I have a headless Debian server running multiple containerized services that I can ssh into now, and I'm shopping around for a replacement on my main PC. Fedora Kinoite taught me about flatpaks, which are honestly pretty sweet. Whatever distribution I go with, I think I'm gonna go with flatpaks.
Not only for ease of use, but also just because they're containerized. I know the containerization of flat pack is not as powerful as a true container, but I like that all the dependencies are installed alongside the program, and file permissions are greatly reduced.
Blah blah blah. I run a zombie survival horror game server for my brother and our friends. Stop dressing it up so much. Lol -
The only “tech” stuff I do is playing games on a laptop.
I have little need for much beyond that.REO6205, Star Rider, LtlAnonymous and 1 other person Thank this. -
We only go as far as we need to with topics, and that includes computing. I just enjoy learning how things work, so I go a bit deeper than most.MACK E-6 Thanks this.

I copied this from a review sometime back. I think it sums things up pretty well,
Linux has more of a philosophy of start lean, build it like you want it, whereas Windows goes in with everything and the kitchen sink to start with. But there's the problem with Windows...so much bloat in order to accommodate everyone that it's just terribly inefficient. Linux could be considered the rat rod you pulled out of the junkyard. It will run but it's the bare essentials and it's your choice...the fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror or the fox tail waving from the antenna? Or both?
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I like that.
Efficiency matters to me. If Windows were modular and didn't spy on you so much, it would actually be a pretty good operating system.
With Linux, I build my computer for it's purpose, and away it goes doing only that purpose.
There's something kind of neat about that.Star Rider Thanks this.
