And what is it used for?
It doesn't look like a garbage trailer. With the tarp roof system. And the doors on the side are for...? Seen in south west Ontario Canada on 401.
Bulk scrap metal? Why the side doors?

What kind of trailer is this?

I've seen them at Alcoa and at Ford where I was delivering aluminum coils.

Going with that line of thought , the doors let you get in to tie the coils down?
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Would that trailer have sufficient anchor points to chain a coil down? Would that even be legit if using the handles sometimes recessed in the floors of dry trailers? I would think it must be multiple points along the rail like the flatbeds do.

I'm sure they do. They do switchs at the the petro pass in Hamilton everyday. They have a few of those plus a conventional trailer also. They're probably hauling scrap aluminum one way and aluminum coils the other way. Some aluminum dumps have tie downs in the floor so they can haul coils too.
What l find funny is that Alcoa in Kingston? Was too cheap to keep dedicated steel haulers on the job. You could always get loads from there for years but they weren't worth the drive. Now Ryder has the contract with brand new Alcoa supplied specialized trailers doing switches every day etc spending money hand over fist lol big company bs ;(
